The Winter Olympics in Utah may be history, but a lot of the hardware required to put them on remains behind in Salt Lake City. So, "in support of our commitment to socially responsible corporate citizenship," Gateway Inc. has decided to donate 4,500 computers.

The San Diego, Calif.-based computer maker said consideration is limited to eligible organizations with non-profit status as recognized by the Internal Revenue Service.

The company posted a form on its Web site for non-profits to get more information and said online applications will be taken beginning April 8.

Make sure your non-profit is already computer-literate -- faxed or written applications will not be accepted.

Gateway said the systems were supplied to the Salt Lake Organizing Committee for use during the 2002 Winter Games to track official event results, statistics and standings for athletes, coaches, spectators, officials and the media.
