Alaska Airlines is now providing wireless access to its website through alaskaair.com. Customers can now view flight status, flight schedules and their Mileage Plan activity using web-enabled cell phones, Palm Pilots and other wireless handheld devices.

Alaska Airlines was the first U.S. carrier to sell tickets online via the Internet in 1995, and in September 1999 it set another first with the introduction of online check-in.

The Seattle-based company also has an in-house e-commerce division which is under the direction of Steve Jarvis, Alaska's staff vice president of e-commerce.
