Redmond-based Conversa has received the L'Ectron D'or 2000 award in the French magazine Electronique's audio/visual/multimedia product category.

The award was given to the ISD SR-3000 chip solution, from Winbond Electronics, that uses Conversa's technology.

This is the second industry award in two months won by a product using Conversa speech recognition software. in May, "the EveryWhere Office" speech portal server by AirTrac won "Best Telephony Product/Service" at the speech technology industry conference CAVIOS.

The SR3000 chip, into which Conversa speech-recognition technology is embedded at manufacture, is designed to enable use of consumer products -- everything from cell phones and voice message machines to handheld devices -- through speech recognition rather than complex, keyboarded commands.
