Seattle Places High @ the Webbies
This year, in addition to the awards chosen by the judges from the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences, a "People's Voice" honor was also awarded in each category. Over 130,000 online participants placed their votes for the 135 nominees on the Webby Awards site.
Among last nights big winners were a number of locally operated sites. Seattle's Hunger Site won the People's Voice honor in the activism category and Amazon.com received the People's Voice award in the commerce division. Atom Films received the People's Voice award in the broadband category and a webby in the film category. The Internet Movie Database received the People's Voice award in the film category. Espn.com won both the Webby and People's Voice in the sports category.
