Halloween party, I need movies!?

  • I am hosting an 11 year old's Halloween B-day, but we only have Charlie Brown and beetle juice. Parents required pg or g rating, so is there any other movies, Also, any cheap (not expensive, not that I am cheap though) Halloween games we could play? Thanks!:)

  • What about Nightmare Before Christmas? Which is about Halloween Land wanting to bring Christmas back to their Halloween world. Great movie, and I think it's G or PG?

Oh, and I just found this Halloween Guide which has a section on Halloween movies --> http://www.findingdulcinea.com/guides/En...

  • Here's some games that stick in my mind from childhood Halloween parties:
    1. Put everyone in a pitch black room where the floor is littered with plastic creepy-crawlies (monsters, spiders, dinosaurs, etc.) and tell them to crawl around and collect them.
    2. Story-and-touch time. One party I went to, we sat in a dim room in a circle while my friend's mom told a creepy story about a friend of hers who died and is kept close by. In fact, here are some body parts in bowls to be passed around the circle that we had to touch.
    Some of these included:
His fingers (long, thick green beans)
    His hair (a wig)
His stomach (gooey dough in a plastic bag)
    His eyes (large olives)
    His brain (cauliflower)
    You get the picture.
    3. Give everyone a sheet of paper with the words "The Witching Hour" written on top and a pencil. Have them find as many words as they can out of the letters from those three words.
    4. Tie a piece of string to the stem of an apple and hang it from the ceiling so it's hovering about the height of the mouths of 11 year olds. Then, one by one they take turns (one minute each) to use their mouths (no hands) to take a bite of the apple.
    5. They can make their own Tootsie Pop ghost party favors. Give everyone a Tootsie Pop, a Kleenex, and a piece of white party ribbon. Show them how to cover the Tootsie Pop with a Kleenex like a little ghost and tie it with the ribbon right where the candy meets the stick, which makes the head of the ghost. Give them a black marker to make faces on their ghosts.

    As for movies, there are:
    The Worst Witch
    Halloween Town
    Monsters Inc.
    Series of Unfortunate Events
    Casper
    Harry Potter

I do not recommend the movie "Hocus Pocus." There is a scene where a cat gets run over by a bus. You don't actually see the cat get hit, but you DO see a (realistic) flattened cat on the pavement. This will very likely upset your young guests, especially if they have pets of their own.

  • Oh man, my bros 11 and he's already watching Friday The 13th and Saw.
But if PG is required, go with The Series of Unfortunate Events. Its not scary, but I loved the books and movie. It's a little twisted I guess.
The Nightmare Before Christmas is a good one too.
