[May 15] ITXC Corp announced
Monday the opening of a London Super PoP (Point of Presence)
to meet the needs of European carriers who want greater
capacity for Internet telephony.
ITXC Corp operates the world's largest Internet telephony network,
with ten of the top twelve U.S. facilities-based carriers already
using it. Its webtalkNOW! service lets ISPs and Web site owners
offer PC-to-phone calling to their customers under their own brands.
The new London Super PoP supports the C7 signaling protocol of
European first tier traditional telephony. It connects with most
London-based carriers via local loop providers.

John Musci, chief operating officer of ITXC Corp, said the
new London facility would give European carrier customers a
local presence for connecting to ITXC.net.

"With this London Super PoP, we can continue to offer them quality,
low-cost Internet telephony services," said Musci.
At July 1999 there were 600 authorized international carriers
in Europe, according to analysis by TeleGeography, Inc. 2000.
ITXC's new facility will make it easier for carriers to
get quality routes and competitive rates to 145 cities in
59 countries.

ITXC has three other Super PoPs in New York, Los Angeles and
Jersey City. Each of them, including the London Pop, has a
traditional circuit switched platform from Excel/Lucent while
also being packed with Internet telephony gateways from Cisco,
Clarent, and VocalTec.
Recently, ITXC has begun offering enhanced services such as
webtalkNOW! -- and for this purpose the Jersey City Super PoP
houses a Class A data center.
Among ITXC's carrier affiliates are Ameritech, Bell Atlantic,
China Telecom, and the Gambia Telecommunications Company.
