Seattle-based Internet Movie Database (IMDb.com), Wednesday launched a pay-for premium subscription service geared for entertainment industry professionals.

For a starting fee of $12.95 per month, users can access market research tools that enable them to track the popularity of the movies and actors listed in the IMDb; become privy to box-office data; and track movie release dates and events, all from IMDbPro.com.

"Over the past five years, a growing segment of industry professionals, including directors, casting agents, producers, programming executives and movie critics, have requested additional features to help them make better business and creative decisions," said Col Needham, IMDb.com founder. "In response to this overwhelming demand, we created IMDbPro.com, which features expanded information and new technology to meet their specific needs."
