  • I am a 22 year old Indian. I am planning to do my Masters in Accounting from an Australian University and take up a job and settle in Australia.
Initially I had thought that Melbourne is the city that fits in for me (Many people have told me that it is a great city)
Now I am also considering Adelaide and Canberra.
Adelaide University is much more cheaper than Melbourne University. ANU is not that inexpensive but its one of the really good one's.
I want to know if Adelaide/Canberra would be a good option for me. How are the job prospects etc. there?

  • In the news lately ANU has been listed for the 3rd year in a row as one of the top 20 universities in the world. You might want to consider that in choosing where you want to go (it even out ranks University of Melbourne).

In social terms however Canberra is a city of about 250,000 about 3 hours drive south of Sydney. The place is full of bureaucrats and political types and considered pretty boring by most of Australia. The one exception being the annual tyre burning festival known as SummerNats. Great if your a car fan. The good news though, Sydney is close enough to take weekends there should you want a break and head for the night life or do day trips.
Adelaide is a much larger city of about a million people. It does have all the conveniences a larger city has to offer. You would likely have better job prospects in larger cities obviously. If you want culture go for Melbourne. If you want the best education go for Canberra. If you want to get blind drunk on wines with the senior-set head for Adelaide.

  • Adelaide and Canberra are smaller cities but i dont think youd have a problem. Canberra is a little way inland and the beach is a big part of aussies life style so id make sure you can at least get away to the beach on the weekend. Adelaide is a laid back city but its not realy set out for the young people like melbourne is. what ever decision you make im sure youll love it here
