Stocks fell again Friday on fears of terrorism and a protracted war in Iraq.
The Nasdaq fell 14 to 1369, the S&P 500 lost 5 to 863, and the Dow dropped 55 to 8145. Volume rose to 1.23 billion shares on the NYSE, but declined to 1.35 billion on the Nasdaq. Advancers led 17-14 on the NYSE, but decliners led 16-14 on the Nasdaq. Downside volume was 55% on the NYSE, and 72% on the Nasdaq. New highs-new lows were 48-32 on the NYSE, and 82-24 on the Nasdaq.
Lucent gained 1.4% after settling shareholder lawsuits.
Enterasys fell 5.5% on its earnings report, and Manugistics lost 12% on its earnings.
Microsoft, off 1.5%, shipped Windows Server 2003 to manufacturers.
