In some of the weirdest news Ive ever received, it appears BitBoys is attempting to enter the 3D market once again. If you dont remember the name, perhaps you will remember the product: Glaze3D. Weve been hearing about this revolutionary product since 1999, yet have never even seen the first silicon part. Yes, it does work in software emulators, but this means little in terms of actual hardware production.

At the recent ASM conference, BitBoys offered a limited preview of its latest project. Though no official PR is available, it appears Glaze3D was actually scrapped in Q2 2000. The new un-named product will still rely on the XBA architecture, though some details are rather unusual. XBA works by integrating upto 12 MB of memory directly into the graphics core, thus allowing it to scale to high-speeds with an ultra wide bus (1024 bits at last presentation).

The design appears to already work in software emulators, plus sources indicate that actual cards exist in beta silicon. However, I will not be convinced until BitBoys delivers us a working product! Ive been waiting for nearly three years now for XBA/Glaze3D/etc.; how much longer will it actually take?
